Rice Krispie Treats, with a chocolate drizzle

Over the Holiday weekend I spent some quality time with good friends, grilling, drinking, and dancing around the campfire. Naturally this was an occasion for a lot of baking. Our friends all brought their kiddos, and when all was said and done we had a weekend headcount of 20 or so people.

Serious desserts were in order.
For the occasion I made some M&M cookies, some Heath bar cookies, a 3-tiered birthday cake, (recipes all to come shortly) and lastly, Rice Krispie treats, with a little extra kick of deliciousness added in. One might think it silly to post such a simple recipe, but I'd never made them before so....

Ingredients:
6 cups rice krispes
3 tablespoons butter
10 ounce bag of marshmallows
2 tablespoons shortening
4 ounces baker's chocolate

First off, melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add in the marshmallows. Let them melt completely into an ooey-goey mess.

Meanwhile, add the chocolate and the shortening to a small saucepan and allow to melt over low heat. once this is all mixed together, allow to cool until easy to handle.

add the butter-marshmallow madness to a large bowl filled with the rice krisipes. mix, until combined, I wanted to eat it by the handfull...

Spray a 13x9 inch baking pan with cooking spray, and press the rice krispie mixture into the pan. To flatten out the top, take a piece of wax paper and evenly press down.

last but not least, drizzle the melted chocolate over the Krispies. Let everything cool, and enjoy!
